A household ritual that often concludes with a trek to the garbage bin now has a new glorious conclusion: the backyard composter. Congratulations to the 87 households who embarked this week on our 2025 Backyard Compost Challenge, a 10-week citizen-science project that transforms non-composting households into Slop Superstars! At composter pick-up this past weekend, Boxerwood educators had the pleasure of hearing the stories from many families newly motivated to step up to the plate, and scrape it.
