Learn the Art of Pruning—Free Community Workshop November 7
Have you ever wondered when to prune your favorite flowering shrub? Or worried about cutting the wrong branch on a young tree? Whether you're caring for a mature landscape or just planting your first tree, knowing the basics of pruning can help your plants stay healthier, safer, and more beautiful for years to come.
Join Boxerwood Education Association for a FREE Tree & Shrub Pruning Workshop on Saturday, November 7, from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Magnolia Square Pavilion in downtown Buena Vista.
Led by professional arborist Karen Stanley and partners, this hands-on workshop will cover the fundamentals of pruning, including:
When to prune different types of trees and shrubs
Why proper pruning improves plant health and longevity
Where to make pruning cuts for the best results
How to safely and confidently prune common landscape plants
Proper pruning is one of the best investments you can make in your landscape. Removing damaged or crossing branches helps reduce the risk of disease and storm damage, encourages healthy growth, improves flowering and fruit production, and creates stronger tree structure for the future. Learning the right techniques also prevents the accidental damage that can occur with improper pruning.
As an added bonus, every participant will receive a pair of hand pruners to use during the workshop—and to take home afterward so you can put your new skills into practice.
The workshop is limited to just 20 participants to allow plenty of opportunities for questions and hands-on learning. Participants must be 16 years of age or older.
This free educational event is made possible through generous support from the Chesapeake Bay Trust and Boxerwood Education Association, whose mission is to educate and inspire people of all ages to become environmentally responsible stewards of the Earth.
Advance registration is required to reserve your spot. Space is limited to 20 participants. Email questions to karen@boxerwood.org. Please complete the registration form HERE.
Whether you're a homeowner, gardener, volunteer, or simply someone who wants to better care for the trees and shrubs in your yard, this workshop will give you practical skills you'll use for years to come.
