For A Thriving Future: New Land
We’re almost there! The help of many donors has now carried us to $470,000 of our $500,000 capital campaign goal. Campaign contributions are already making on-the-ground impacts:
The Lodge is sound again. Donations enabled us to hire contractors to replace the original roof section and make much-needed structural repairs beneath it. After decades of rainy-day classes and muddy boots, the building is ready for the next generation.
A new truck is on the road. It hauls saplings, mulch, and tools to our tree plantings, carries composting materials to schools where we run food-waste diversion programs, and transports boots, nets, and more to every river-based program we lead.
The Meadowlark is going up. On October 11, volunteer timber framers from across the country will raise the frame for our new covered stage and outdoor classroom.
The most exciting (and pressing) opportunity is still ahead. Ten acres adjacent to BEA property is now for sale. If a developer buys that tract, what gets built could forever impact Boxerwood: we urgently need to secure this beautiful hillside. We've applied to the Virginia Outdoors Foundation for a grant to help with the purchase, but need community match. We invite you to be part of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
