Up on the hill, just before you reach the meadow, you'll pass through an old crab apple orchard, planted by Dr. Munger. The orchard was famous, not for its fruit, but because every year when the trees bloomed, the Mungers would, through their famed Crab Party, celebrate the crabapple blooms and the rest of the garden in all its glory.
In recent years, Boxewood has held had other events to celebrate springtime and fall.
In an area between the orchard and the meadows, volunteers have planted new fruit trees.
