Boxerwood Nature Center & Woodland Garden

Hunter Mohring EarthArt Fund

The Hunter Mohring EarthArt Fund will be but one manifestation of Hunter’s legacy at Boxerwood. Hunter’s passion for nature, the arts, education and Boxerwood is the foundation of the fund. Contributions to Hunter’s fund will allow the Boxerwood Education Association to utilize art as a means of furthering the BEA mission to educate and inspire people of all ages toward becoming successful and environmentally responsible Stewards of the Earth.

Hunter also received the Roger Tory Peterson Nature Education Leadership Award " in recognition of exemplary work in the field of nature education coninuing the legacy of Roger Tory Peterson to guide people in the study of nature and thereby inspire them to know, appreciate and protect the natural world in which we all depend."

The Fund will provide:
• Opportunities for the creation of EarthArt at Boxerwood for visitors of all ages by the provision of “creation stations” in the garden. Here, natural materials will be used to enhance personal connection with nature through art
• Funding, where appropriate, for the inclusion of art materials to visiting schools so they, too, can enter into an artistic conversation with their surroundings at Boxerwood
• Funding, when appropriate, for the recruitment of a staff member who will advance the Art component of the BEA offering to the community as a whole
• Sustainability for a Boxerwood EarthArt Festival
